For three years, James (Harry Shum Jr.) has been haunted by his wife’s sudden and inexplicable disappearance. His best distraction is work—specifically, archiving old videos. While watching decade-aged TV news footage one night, he sees a video interference that’s deeply disturbing. And it’s not the only interference he’ll see. As his obsession over these strange clips increases, and he submerges himself into their mysteries, James discovers troubling connections to his missing wife. Which will these broadcast intrusions bring him, though: long-desired answers or a never-ending nightmare?
RANKED AMONG THE BEST FILM AT SXSW 2021 BY USA TODAY, LA WEEKLY AND SYFY WIRE
“IT UNFOLDS LIKE A NOIR, A VIBE HELPED ALONG BY ITS GLOOMY COLOR PALETTE AND THE WAILING TRUMPET THAT PUNCTUATES ITS SCORE. JAMES IS SORT OF A CLASSIC, HAUNTED-BY-THE-PAST FILM NOIR CHARACTER BLENDED WITH THE MAIN CHARACTERS IN THRILLERS LIKE BLOWUP AND BERBERIAN SOUND STUDIO, AS HE STUMBLES ACROSS A DARK CONSPIRACY THAT SEEMS CONNECTED TO A VERY PERSONAL MYSTERY THAT’S OVERWHELMED HIS LIFE. BUT THERE’S A DECIDEDLY 1990S ANGLE TO SAID MYSTERY THAT BRINGS BROADCAST SIGNAL INTRUSION INTO ITS OWN REALM OF TECHNOLOGY, MELANCHOLY, AND MENACE.”
– GIZMODO / IO9 – A SITE WITH 5 MILLION UVPM
“IT’S AN EFFECTIVE NOIR-THRILLER WITH A STRONG CENTRAL PERFORMANCE, SMART DIRECTION AND CINEMATOGRAPHY CHOICES, AND A FLAWLESS NOIR SCORE—A JOURNEY ABSOLUTELY WORTH TAKING AND UNLIKE ALMOST ANYTHING YOU’LL FIND THESE DAYS.”
– FORBES – SITE WITH 114 MILLION UNIQUE VISITORS PER MONTH
“AN OBSESSIVE, NERVE-SHREDDING THRILLER FRAMED AROUND ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING SIGNAL INTRUSION SEQUENCES.”
– SYFY WIRE
“GENTRY’S DIRECTION IS SLEEK AND SUPERB, HARRY SHUM JR. DELIVERS AN ABSOLUTE POWERHOUSE OF A LEAD PERFORMANCE AND THE VISUALS AND ATMOSPHERE ARE APPROPRIATELY HAUNTING, RESULTING IN A FAIRLY CHILLING RETURN TO THE OMINOUS TECH-BASED HORROR OF THE PAST.”
– COMINGSOON.NET
“A GRIPPING AND SUSPENSEFUL FILM.”
– DREAD CENTRAL
“BROADCAST SIGNAL INTRUSION REMAINS A BEAUTIFULLY EERIE NEO-NOIR MYSTERY DRENCHED IN ANALOG TERROR.”

[…] QUIRKY, NOSTALGIC, AND DEEPLY ENTRENCHED IN NOIR AND HORROR, BROADCAST SIGNAL INTRUSION IS AN ENTRANCING MYSTERY THAT’S SINISTER AND SMART.”
– GHASTLY GRINNINGS
“BROADCAST SIGNAL INTRUSION EMBRACES ITS ENIGMATIC ELEMENTS, DRAWING THE VIEWER INTO A VERY ENTERTAINING INVESTIGATION, WHERE NOTHING IS EVER QUITE WHAT IT SEEMS.”
– THE HOLLYWOOD NEWS
“BROADCAST SIGNAL INTRUSION COLLECTS AN ASSEMBLY OF TOUCHSTONES THAT BECOMES AS UNIQUELY UNUSUAL AS A MAN IN A MAX HEADROOM MASK HUMMING THE THEME TO “CLUTCH CARGO” WHILE SPOOFILY SHILLING COCA-COLA.”
